Varian Completes Purchase of Embolic Product Lines

August 21, 2019—Varian has announced completion of its purchase of the Oncozene and Embozene embolic bead lines previously marketed by Boston Scientific Corporation. The transaction coincides with the closing of Boston Scientific Corporation's acquisition of BTG.

Varian adds the drug-loadable microspheres and bland embolic beads to a growing portfolio of interventional oncology products. In June, the Palo Alto–based company announced its acquisition of Endocare and Alicon, developers of cryotherapy and embolic products, respectively.
