Vascular Surgery Societies Propose Global CLTI Guidelines, Request Comments
November 20, 2018—The Society for Vascular Surgery, the European Society for Vascular Surgery, and the World Federation of Vascular Societies have announced their collaboration in efforts to establish clinical practice guidelines in vascular disease known as the Global Vascular Guidelines.
The consortium has posted a guideline regarding the clinical evaluation, decision-making, and treatment of chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) and posted it for public comment until December 3, 2018. The document includes the consortium's summary of available data, classifications of the levels of data available for each element of CLTI care, comparisons of risk stratification tools, ongoing research priorities, and proposed guidelines for current management algorithms.
"Anyone is welcome to review the draft guidelines and provide comments, including members of the sponsoring societies, other clinicians who are directly involved in the management of patients with CLTI, referring providers and allied professionals who care for the at-risk population, industry and insurance companies, researchers, patients, caregivers, and members of the public," the announcement said. "Feedback received during the comment period will be shared with the Co-Editors and Steering Committee."
The proposed guidelines can be viewed here.
