Viz.ai and TeleSpecialists Announce Strategic Partnership for Stroke Care

February 9, 2022—Viz.ai and TeleSpecialists, LLC announced that the companies have entered a strategic partnership that will bring together artificial intelligence- (AI-) powered stroke care with telestroke neurologists to optimize time to treatment and improve patient outcomes across the United States.

According to the companies, the partnership combines Viz.ai’s Viz Intelligent Care Coordination platform and the expertise of TeleSpecialists’ neurologists to alert providers and give them direct access to high-fidelity imaging, patient information, and HIPAA-compliant communication. The companies stated that this partnership will facilitate stroke care coordination even when the patient and provider are hundreds of miles apart. Moving forward, the two organizations will partner on additional technology, workflows, and research opportunities.

Partner hospitals of TeleSpecialists and Viz.ai will be able to integrate the Viz.ai platform into the TeleSpecialists telecare platform. The integration allows TeleSpecialists physicians to see the advanced imaging and data on their smartphones as soon as it is available and make life-saving decisions more quickly.

TeleSpecialists provides patient care via telemedicine to bring an expert physician to the bedside in < 3 minutes. TeleSpecialists’ TeleCare software is an immediate intelligent routing and queuing system that sends consults directly to physicians.

Viz.ai, which is focused on AI-driven intelligent care coordination, offers the Viz LVO computer-aided triage and notification software to improve workflow in time-critical therapies such as stroke. Viz LVO uses AI to automatically detect suspected large vessel occlusion strokes on CT angiography. In February 2018, the FDA granted de novo clearance for Viz LVO. The company also received 510(k) clearance for Viz CTP for automated cerebral perfusion image analysis. A third FDA clearance was granted in 2020 for Viz ICH to automatically detect suspected intracranial hemorrhage on CT imaging. In 2021, the FDA cleared the Viz PE and Viz Aortic modules.
