Vygon Acquires Stiletto Extended-Dwell Catheter With SlipStream Technology

February 10, 2026—Vygon announced it has acquired the Stiletto extended-dwell catheter and its proprietary SlipStream insertion technology from Avia Vascular. This marks the company’s first entry into the extended-dwell catheter segment and expanding its vascular access portfolio in the United States, according to a company press release. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquisition positions Vygon to compete in what it described as a rapidly expanding United States market for midline and extended-dwell catheters. Stiletto is a sterile, peripherally inserted, single-use device intended for mid-duration therapies of < 28 days. SlipStream is a patented insertion system designed to replace the traditional Seldinger technique for placement of extended-dwell catheters.

According to Vygon, SlipStream eliminates the need for guidewires and reduces procedural steps compared with the Seldinger technique, offering what the company characterized as a simpler and more intuitive insertion approach for clinicians. The company stated that these design features are intended to improve patient comfort and procedural efficiency, although no clinical performance data were disclosed in the announcement.

With the addition of Stiletto, Vygon now offers a continuum of vascular access devices that include standard midlines, extended-dwell catheters, peripherally inserted central catheters, central venous catheters, implantable ports, and neonatal and pediatric vascular access devices. The company indicated that the transaction supports its broader strategy to accelerate growth in the United States.
