Xact Robotics Ace Xtend Remote Control Unit Receives FDA Clearance

October 11, 2022—Xact Robotics announced that its Ace Xtend remote control unit received FDA clearance. The device allows users to robotically insert and steer the company’s Xact Ace robotic system remotely from the control room. This feature for CT-guided percutaneous procedures is designed to improve physician workflows while limiting physicians’ (and other users’) exposure to radiation and reducing physical strain.

In July 2020, the company announced that the Xact Ace robotic system received FDA clearance for use during CT-guided percutaneous procedures. The system also has received European CE Mark approval.

According to the company, the Xact Ace robotic system combines image-based planning and monitoring with the company’s S-Drive technology, which enables the system to quickly adapt from a linear to a nonlinear trajectory with its robotic insertion and steering of instruments during interventional percutaneous procedures.
