Cathi Launches Portable Endovascular Simulator System for Industry
January 27, 2021—Cathi GmbH, a Germany-based company specializing in endovascular simulators, announced the market launch of the Cathis Smart portable system to medical technology and pharmaceutical companies.
According to the company, the laptop-sized Cathis Smart displays all types of endovascular interventions in any medical field, including complex and challenging cases. In combination with the appropriate software modules, the system is particularly appropriate for neuroradiology, cardiology, radiology, angiology, and pneumology. The Cathis Smart simulator is supported by a range of hardware including a control unit, notebook, and foot pedal.
The company noted that the portable system can be customized to satisfy individual customer needs, such as being set up with specific devices or instruments, along with associated special features.
The Cathis Smart enables sales teams to give simplified, high-definition demonstrations of complex products to their customers. Uses can quickly learn simple-to-follow step-by-step procedures to gain a basic understanding of vessel anatomy plus the handling of instruments or devices. The system can also be used by engineers as a tool for aiding product design by facilitating visualization and the extrapolation of ideas, as well as factoring in ease of operation and a positive user experience.
“Simulators are essential items of equipment for the cath lab, both for initial training and maintaining vital skills,” commented Professor Andreas Götte, MD, in the Cathi press release. “But to be effective they must resemble ‘real-life’ clinical practice: we must see the coronary artery as it really is, being able to manipulate guidewires as well as catheters and balloons.” Prof. Götte is Head of Cardiology at St. Vincenz Hospital in Paderborn, Germany.
