Philips AAA Model Introduced for Surveillance of Native and EVAR-Treated AAAs

January 27, 2021—Royal Philips introduced the Philips abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) model at LINC 2021, the Leipzig Interventional Course held as a virtual event on January 25-29.

According to the company, the Philips AAA model, which is based on three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound, delivers accurate diagnostic information without exposing patients to high doses of radiation and nephrotoxic contrast agents. The Philips AAA model has received CE Mark approval and FDA clearance for sale in Europe and the United States.

Philips stated that the system integrates innovative software and Philips 3D ultrasound technologies into a single solution for increased diagnostic confidence and an improved patient experience. The software automatically segments and quantifies the size of the aneurysm sac for surveillance of both known native AAAs and post–endovascular aneurysm repair AAAs.
