Contego Medical to Expand Product Commercialization Efforts

April 17, 2015—Contego Medical, provider of the Integrated Embolic Protection filter platform for angioplasty balloon and stent delivery catheters, announced that it will be expanding commercialization efforts throughout Europe and globally. The company is developing new products for its next-generation Integrated Embolic Protection platform. 

Contego Medical, which is based in Raleigh, North Carolina, also announced that its efforts are being supported by a $5.6 million Series B financing round led by Hatteras Venture Partners, along with Mountain Group Partners, Lookout Capital, and Medical Mutual. The founders of Contego Medical are Ravish Sachar, MD, and Jay Yadav, MD.

Contego Medical's portfolio of angioplasty balloons and stents embodying the Integrated Embolic Protection filter platform are being developed to reduce the risk of stroke and other procedural complications. The company’s combination devices are designed to simplify procedures, improve outcomes, and offer cost-effective solutions for endovascular treatment with treatment and embolic protecion delivered on the same catheter.

Among Contego Medical's new products is the Paladin carotid postdilation balloon with integrated embolic protection, which has received European CE Mark approval. The Paladin device is not commercially available in the United States.
