Creganna-Tactx Medical Acquires ABT Medical

October 4, 2012—Creganna-Tactx Medical (Galway, Ireland) announced that it has acquired ABT Medical (Wexford, Ireland). ABT designs and manufactures angioplasty balloons. According to Creganna-Tactx Medical's announcement, ABT Medical's processing technology enables the manufacturing of balloons up to and in excess of 300 mm in length. The technology is also applicable in the manufacturing of balloons for valvuloplasty devices, gastrointestinal and endoscopic devices, and devices for the delivery of cryoablation therapy.

Creganna-Tactx Medical stated that the acquisition augments its existing balloon design and manufacturing capabilities, particularly for peripheral vascular device applications. ABT's technology will continue to be marketed to existing customers, as well as to Creganna-Tactx Medical's customers worldwide.
