Dr. Michael Jaff to Join Boston Scientific
October 15, 2019—Boston Scientific Corporation announced that Michael R. Jaff, DO, will join the company as Vice President of Clinical Affairs, Innovation and Technology, Peripheral Interventions by January 2020. In this role, Dr. Jaff will lead clinical and medical affairs strategies to support the development and commercialization of the company’s peripheral vascular medical device portfolio.
According to Boston Scientific, Dr. Jaff has served as President of Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Massachusetts since 2016. He is Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts and has served on multiple professional society and hospital boards of directors. Previously, he was responsible for process improvement efforts to redesign health care delivery at Massachusetts General Hospital and led its Fireman Vascular Center in Boston.
In the company’s announcement, Dr. Jaff commented, "I have had the privilege of collaborating with Boston Scientific over the course of my career and have participated in numerous clinical trials investigating the company’s devices. The Boston Scientific culture of innovation, dedication to the highest ethical approach to interventional therapies, and commitment to bringing forward solutions that improve the care of patients made this the best decision for the next phase of my career."
Dr. Jaff has more than 25 years of experience as a vascular clinician. His research has been published in more than 300 peer-reviewed medical journals. Dr. Jaff is also the founder of VasCore, the world’s largest core laboratory for noninvasive vascular imaging and clinical trials, noted Boston Scientific. He received his bachelor’s degree from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and he earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri. He completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in vascular medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Jaff is also a graduate of Harvard Business School’s general management program and the recipient of multiple awards, recognitions, and an honorary doctorate of arts degree from Harvard Medical School.
