Endologix and Evasc Enter Development Agreement for Balloon-Expandable Stent Technology
August 16, 2010—Endologix, Inc. (Irvine, CA) announced that it has entered into a development agreement and exclusive license with Evasc Medical Systems Corporation (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) for its balloon-expandable stent technology, which is composed of cobalt-chromium and is premounted on an angioplasty balloon catheter. Endologix plans to cover the balloon-expandable stent with its expanded polytetrafluoroethylene graft material and use it with the company's fenestrated stent graft device, which is currently in preclinical development.
According to Endologix, the fenestrated stent graft will be a new aortic extension that has been designed for use with its Powerlink main body, bifurcated stent graft as an endovascular treatment option for short-neck and juxtarenal abdominal aortic aneurysms. The balloon-expandable stent graft will be used to branch the fenestrated stent graft into the renal arteries, allowing normal blood flow to the kidneys.
