Life Seal Vascular Receives NSF SBIR Grant for Aneurysm Sac Sealing Technology for EVAR
July 15, 2024—Life Seal Vascular Inc. announced that it has been awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant. The company advised that the funding will accelerate the development of its endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) technology.
According to Life Seal Vascular, its aneurysmal sac sealing technology is designed as an adjunctive therapy to native endografts that seals the entire aneurysmal sac, potentially eliminating endoleaks, reducing reintervention rates, and improving clinical outcomes for EVAR patients.
“The advancements being made by Life Seal Vascular are truly remarkable,” commented vascular surgeon Michel Reijnen, MD, in the press release. “Their innovative solutions have the potential to revolutionize EVAR, offering patients safer and more effective treatment options. I am excited to see the positive impact this technology will have on the field and on patient care.”
The press release noted that the NSF SBIR program supports scientific excellence and technological innovation through the investment of federal research funds. America’s Seed Fund, which is powered by the NSF Small Business programs, focuses on transforming scientific and engineering discoveries into products and services with commercial and societal impact. The NSF awards more than $200 million in R&D funding to approximately 400 startups across the United States, stated Life Seal Vascular.
