Microbot Medical’s Liberty Endovascular Robotic Surgical System Evaluated in Preclinical Study

June 29, 2023—Microbot Medical Inc., a Massachusetts-based preclinical medical device company specializing in microrobotic technologies, announced the successful completion of an extended preclinical study of the company’s Liberty single-use endovascular robotic surgical system. The company reported that the study was conducted by key opinion leaders (KOLs) during 2 days at a New York–based research lab.

According to Microbot, a team of leading interventional radiologists used the system and performed dozens of catheterizations, including use of the system’s remote operation capabilities to predetermined vascular targets with a 100% success rate of reaching the intended target with no observable on-site complications. In addition, it was the first study that the company allowed participants of leading organizations from the medical industry to join.

The company noted that it received positive, real-time user feedback, which included feedback on the intuitiveness of the system, its ease of setup and use, and the value added that the investigators saw with the ability to control procedures remotely via the Liberty system’s remote controller. Additionally, the company received input from the industry participants that aligned with the value proposition Liberty is expected to bring to the market.
