Microbot’s Liberty Robotic System Pivotal Trial Expanded to Second Site
July 16, 2024—Microbot Medical recently announced that Baptist Hospital of Miami in Miami, Florida, completed its first clinical procedure with the company’s Liberty endovascular robotic surgical system in the pivotal trial of the device. Baptist Hospital includes Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute and Miami Cancer Institute.
According to Microbot, Ripal Gandhi, MD, Principal Investigator for the trial at Baptist Hospital of Miami, performed the procedure. The company noted that Baptist Hospital of Miami is the second clinical site for the trial.
On July 8, Microbot announced the first procedure in the trial was performed by Dmitry Rabkin, MD, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
The trial is being conducted under an FDA investigational device exemption for Liberty. The trial results are expected to support future submission of Liberty to the FDA and subsequent commercialization, advised the company.
