Polyembo Secures New Funding to Advance Development of Vascular Embolic Device

October 24, 2025—Polyembo announced it has closed a new round of funding led by a multinational strategic investor to advance innovative product development and regulatory clearances, including support of its next-generation Scrunchy vascular embolic device.

According to the company, the Scrunchy device features a wide rande of sizes as wel as multiple self-expanding and self-sizing struts packed with dense absorbent fibers to promote occlusion and stability in the vessel. Two Scrunchy device sizes are intended to treat a wide range of vessel diameters through small 0.027-inch microcatheters, noted the company.

“Polyembo’s Scrunchy is a novel vascular embolic technology that addresses real challenges with existing products,” stated Jeremy Durack, MD, in the press release. Dr. Durack, who is an interventional radiologist at the Palo Alto, California Veterans Administration Medical Center, continued, “The Scrunchy occludes fast, grips the vessel wall, and could significantly reduce the number of devices we need to order. Currently, we stock so many different product sizes and lengths, which the Scrunchy could replace with just two sizes.”

Polyembo noted that the Scrunchy and related Sphere and PuffyCoil embolic technologies remain under development and have not yet received marketing clearance or regulatory approval.
