SCAI Seeks Comments on Draft Position Statement on Competencies for Endovascular Specialists Treating CLTI

January 19, 2021—The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) announced it is seeking comments on the draft of the new SCAI position statement on competencies for endovascular specialists providing care for chronic limb-threatening ischemia. Comments should be submitted by Monday, February 22, 2021.

The society advised that anyone may submit comments, including SCAI member and nonmember physicians, health care professionals, patients, caregivers, researchers, industry stakeholders, and insurance companies.

Respondents must complete the entire comments process in one sitting because progress cannot be saved until the end. The process will take between 5 and 15 minutes to complete depending on the number of comments that a respondent offers.

As noted in the SCAI announcement, the society’s draft statements are made available for public comment before society approval and publication, with the aim of engaging key stakeholders in a transparent and rigorous development effort. At the end of a 30-day comment period, the writing group will review the feedback received and may revise the statement in response. Comments may also inform SCAI’s communication and implementation plan and future updates of the material. Individuals or organizations that provide comments will not typically be identified by name within the final published guidelines.

Development of the statement is sponsored by SCAI in collaboration with the American College of Radiology, American Podiatric Medical Association, Society for Interventional Radiology, Society for Vascular Medicine, Society for Vascular Surgery, Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, and Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Society.
