SNIS Plans for Virtual Annual Meeting After Canceling San Diego Conference

May 13, 2020—Richard P. Klucznik, MD, President of the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery (SNIS), announced in a letter to members that the society's Board of Directors has decided to cancel the SNIS 17th Annual Meeting as a live event, which was scheduled to be held August 4–7 in San Diego, California.

Dr. Klucznik advised that plans for a Virtual Annual Meeting on the same dates are being crafted by the Annual Meeting Program Committee, led by SNIS Program Chairs Reade DeLeacy, MD, and Sandra Narayanan, MD, and partners from the CV Section, European Society of Minimally Invasive Neurological Therapy, and the Australian and New Zealand Society of Neuroradiology. More details will be available soon on the SNIS annual meeting website.

The society stated that this decision comes after continuing to monitor the current trajectory and impact of COVID-19, as well as the likely aftermath for SNIS members in the months to follow the peak wave. With the virtual meeting, SNIS is seeking to continue to pursue its mission of providing educational content to its membership and the field.

SNIS will be setting up a process to refund all conference registration fees in full. All hotel accommodations made with the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina and the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego will automatically be canceled in the next few weeks. For industry partners and exhibitors, SNIS will be sending a separate communication soon.
