Surefire Medical Launches mT Infusion System for Small-Vessel Interventional Procedures
October 18, 2013—Surefire Medical, Inc. (Westminster, CO) announced the launch of the company's mT infusion system, which is designed to treat vessels as small as 2 to 3.5 mm in interventional direct-to-target embolization procedures.
According to the company, the mT infusion system incorporates Surefire's new low-profile, expandable-tip technology for maximum dose delivery without reflux. Enhancements to the newly designed mT infusion system catheter tip include a smooth catheter inner liner for consistent dose delivery; thinner and more streamlined design for improved deployment and retraction; optimized shape of the Surefire expandable tip for reliable infusion, even in very tortuous anatomy; and sufficient antegrade flow maintained in vessels as small as 2 mm. Surefire Medical's ST and LT infusion systems will also incorporate many of these enhancements, noted the company.
“The new Surefire infusion system, mT, gives interventional radiologists greater ability to maximize targeted delivery in a wider range of patient candidates by enabling infusion into vessels as small as 2 mm,” commented Ryan Majoria, MD, in the company's press release. Dr. Majoria is Chief of Interventional Radiology and Interventional Oncology at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. “In a recent case, there was no way I could have delivered any dose safely without the mT, because it was a small vessel with slow flow in a very high-risk territory.”
