Vexev Raises Funds to Support VxWave Autonomous Vascular Imaging Platform

August 11, 2026—Vexev, an Australia-based medical robotics company, announced it has raised $6 million in new funding to accelerate the path to FDA 510(k) clearance and United States commercialization of its VxWave robotic tomographic ultrasound platform, which is designed to improve access to standardized vascular imaging.

The company advised that the financing round included participation from existing investors Blackbird Ventures, Neotribe Ventures, Startmate, and Horizon, together with new investors TreeArc Investment Group, TEN13, Bioshore Ventures, and Alumni Ventures. The company stated that the new round brings Vexev’s total funding to date to $19 million.

According to Vexev, VxWave combines robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), and ultrasound imaging to automate vascular ultrasound acquisition. The platform is being developed for upper limb imaging, with dialysis vascular access as its initial application.

In November 2025, Vexev along with U.S. Renal Care announced the results of the CANSCAN feasibility trial of the VxWave system.

The company noted that in the CANSCAN study, VxWave demonstrated a 94% scanning success rate for autonomous vascular imaging by nonspecialist clinical staff, with the potential ability to standardize vascular imaging designed to improve consistency and potentially decrease time to diagnosis and treatment.

Vexev stated that it intends to expand its autonomous imaging platform beyond dialysis vascular access into additional vascular disease applications like cardiovascular and peripheral artery disease, while building the clinical evidence needed to support future AI-enabled decisions.

Dr. Agarwal is Past President of the American Society of Nephrology, as well as Senior Vice President for Medicine and Dean of the Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, Alabama.
