Pathway Medical Technologies, Inc. (Kirkland, WA) announced that the US Food and Drug Administration has granted the company 510(k) clearance to market the Jetstream Navitus, an enhanced revascularization catheter for the treatment of peripheral vascular disease. Offering greater flexibility, effective cutting, and improved guidewire performance, Jetstream Navitus is a useful option for treating calcium blockages and chronic total occlusions in patients with peripheral vascular disease. Jetstream Navitus is now available for sale throughout the United States.

“The Jetstream Navitus offers interventionists an evolutionary new tool to treat the most calcified lesions in the infrainguinal vascular space,” said Andrey Espinoza, MD, FACC, FSCAI. “The design iterations provide a superior cutting platform with enhanced flexibility and an excellent deliverability profile. Medrad Interventional (Indianola, PA) announced the launch of the Solent family of thrombectomy catheters, which are designed to treat large, difficult-to-remove thrombus in the peripheral vasculature. The Solent catheters are enabled for power-pulse delivery, allowing them to power-infuse lytic into the thrombus. They also allow for swapping of guidewires during the procedure. The Solent Omni's 120-cm length gives it a longer reach than the 90-cm Solent Proxi. A port with a stopcock on the catheter's hub facilitates in situ contrast injection. A flexible, polymer-clad spiral shaft with a hydrophilic coating on the distal section provides improved handling.

The Solent thrombectomy devices are available for use with the AngioJet Ultra system and provide the highest clot-removing power in the AngioJet range. The Solent catheters are based on the AngioJet Cross-Stream technology, which uses high-speed saline jets inside the catheter tip to create a powerful, low-pressure zone that entrains and removes clot, the company stated.

Boston Scientific Corporation (Natick, MA) has announced the launch of the Interlock-35 fibered IDC (interlocking detachable coil) occlusion system in the United States and Europe. The system received clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration and European CE Mark approval for obstructing or reducing blood flow in the peripheral vasculature during embolization procedures. The Interlock-35 system consists of a 0.035-inch detachable coil that features a unique interlocking connection between the coil and delivery wire that is designed to offer placement control, including the ability to advance, retract, and reposition the coil before final deployment in the vessel. The coil is engineered to be accurately and reliably detached by simply pushing the detachment zone beyond the distal end of a 5-F Imager II diagnostic catheter. The platinum coil is constructed with a dense network of synthetic fibers and is designed to offer excellent thrombogenicity (blockage of blood flow) and rapid stasis, the company stated.

The ASAP is a duallumen 12-cm rapid-exchange–length catheter with related accessories and should be used with a guiding catheter that is > 6 F (0.070-inch inner diameter). The ASAP kit has all the necessary components to perform a catheter aspiration procedure safely, quickly, and effectively, the company stated.
