BD has announced the launch of additional sizes of the Halo One thin-walled guiding sheath for use in peripheral arterial and venous procedures. The portfolio expansion includes new introducer kits and 6-F guiding sheaths, which received FDA clearance and are commercially available. With the expansion, Halo One is now available in 4, 5, and 6 F and 10-, 25-, 45-, 70-, and 90-cm lengths and is capable of both distal and proximal interventions.

The Halo One thin-walled guiding sheath consists of a thin-walled sheath (1-F wall thickness) made from braided single-lumen tubing, fitted with a female luer hub at the proximal end and a formed atraumatic distal tip. The thin-wall design reduces the size of the arteriotomy, which can help minimize access site complications.1 The Halo One is designed for use in femoral, radial, popliteal, tibial, and pedal access procedures.

According to the company, Halo One thin-walled guiding sheath’s broad size offering provides the only thin-walled guiding sheath in the United States with lengths suitable for distal peripheral intervention.
