SCAI/SVM Expert Consensus Statement Addresses Training and Credentialing for CAS

December 17, 2015—The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) and the Society for Vascular Medicine (SVM) announced the publication of an expert consensus statement providing physician training and credentialing guidance to facilitate the safe and effective incorporation of carotid artery stenting (CAS) into clinical practice within cardiovascular medicine programs for the prevention of stroke. The expert consensus statement is available online before being published in Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions.  The societies noted that the document aims to increase the competency requirements needed to be proficient in performing CAS procedures.
